Strengthening China-Australia Energy Collaboration

ACERA Hosts Shenzhen Delegation in Perth

On December 11, 2024, the Australia China Energy and Resources Association (ACERA 澳大利亚华人能源与资源协会) had the distinct honor of hosting a delegation led by Mr. Zheng Tiejun 郑铁军, Deputy Director of the Shenzhen Development and Reform Commission(深圳发改委副主任), during their visit to Perth. The delegation, consisting of seven members, was warmly welcomed by prominent representatives from ACERA and Infinite Green Energy (IGE).



Among the attendees were Consul Wang Shuwei and Consul Zhao Hongtao from the Chinese Consulate General in Perth, ACERA President Lewis Lu, Vice President Xipo Zhang, Secretary-General Phoebe Wan, as well as Infinite Green Energy's CEO Stephen Gauld, Co-founder and Chief Corporate Affairs& Marketing Officer Yolanda Gauld(she is also the Vice President of ACERA), and Business Manager Mike Sukudom.


The meeting opened with a welcome speech by ACERA President Lewis Lu, who highlighted the longstanding history of cooperation between CNOOC Australia and GD LNG during his time in CNOOC Australia. He expressed his gratitude for the consistent support of GDLNG to ACERA and extended a warm welcome to Deputy Director Zheng’s delegation  of the Development and Reform Commission of Shenzhen city where GD LNG is located. He wish the delegation a successful visit and ACERA looks forward to working hand in hand with the city of Shenzhen to promote and enhance trade and economic cooperation between Shenzhen and Western Australia.


Deputy Director Zheng, in his remarks, underscored Shenzhen's pivotal role as a pioneer of reform and opening-up in China. He detailed Shenzhen's commitment to deepening reforms, attracting international investment, and advancing renewable and clean energy development, setting the stage for future collaboration opportunities.

Consul Wang Shuwei provided an update on the progress of Chinese enterprises operating in Perth, sharing insights on their accomplishments and potential growth areas.


ACERA Vice President Xipo Zhang gave a comprehensive overview of the association’s decade-long journey, emphasizing its success in facilitating China-Australia LNG trade and standardizing the import of Australian oil, gas, and mining equipment. Looking ahead, he outlined ACERA's plans to maintain its traditional focus on oil and gas while expanding efforts in renewable energy.

 

The meeting also featured an inspiring presentation from Infinite Green Energy. CEO Stephen Gauld and Chief Corporate Affair and Marketing Officer Yolanda Gauld shared details of their collaborative hydrogen energy project with Samsung, showcasing its contribution to Australia's energy transition and the broader potential of renewable energy technologies in achieving low-carbon and zero-carbon goals.


In closing, Deputy Director Zheng expressed his appreciation for ACERA’s thoughtful arrangements and encouraged the association to continue serving as a vital bridge for collaboration between China and Australia in the energy and resources sectors.



ACERA Presidenrt Lewis Lu concluded the meeting with an invitation to all attendees to participate in the association's 2025 LNG Forum, marking the conclusion of a productive and meaningful exchange. A group photo captured the spirit of collaboration, commemorating this significant event.
