ACERA Chinese New Year Banquet fires up at the Red Chilli

The Western Australia Chinese Petroleum Association (ACERA) held its Chinese New Year banquet on February 13th 2019 at the locally renowned Red Chilli Sichuan Restaurant in central Northbridge. The sell-out event was a resounding success and marked the next lunar cycle of collaborations between China and Australia as two of the most important oil and gas producing & trading nations on the planet.
Companies represented on the evening hailed from local, Chinese and multinational enterprises including China Construction Oceania, ENI, CNOOC, the NWS China Administration Company, Chevron, Lishen Australia, Woodside and GHD among many others. The evening was kindly sponsored by prominent resource commodities trader Forestment Resources.
ACERA president Tysun Chan delivered an opening speech for the evening, highlighting the Sichuan themed dinner as symbolising the province which possesses some of the richest shale gas reserves in the Middle Kingdom. Mr Chan also drew analogies with Australia which also holds world class reserves of shale gas and expressed his hope for the further sharing of know-how and technology in emerging unconventional gas developments to enhance both nations’ usage of cleaner hydrocarbons.
The ACERA’s exciting schedule of of events for 2019 was outlined including a career development forum for our future industry leaders, a joint association mid-Autumn festival, petroleum technical and commercial seminars as well as a Christmas party to conclude what will be an undoubtedly successful year.
Guests were also delighted with the presence of the association’s special guest for the evening, direct from his present location in Beijing, Mr Lewis Lu of CNOOC. Mr Lu is one of the key founders of the ACERA and Honorary President for Life. Mr Lu delivered an uplifting speech regarding the growth of the ACERA and the many ties formed, inserting his own renowned sense of humour to the enjoyment of all.
The ACERA would like to thank the attendees for making the evening such a memorable event and the association looks forward to formally announcing dates for its next event in the near future.
