After another successful year as one of Australia’s leading bodies dedicated to Australia-China cross-border petroleum trade and cooperation, the Australia Chinese Energy And Resource Association(ACERA) held its AGM and dinner banquet on Sunday 2nd December 2018 to reflect on the achievements of the year and lay the foundation for further success in 2019.
Tysun Chan, Business Development Manager of Meercat Pty Ltd – a leading provider of risk and control assurance software to the energy and mining sectors, was nominated for the role of President of the Association. Tysun possesses over 13 years’ energy industry experience and has advised a diverse range of Australian, Chinese and International firms on international standards, risk management, renewable energy systems and oilfield facility commissioning & refurbishment.
Tysun takes over from Dr Feng Xu Jian, Senior Geoscientist at Chevron, who nominated to conclude his role as President. Dr Jian held the position for over two years and steered the ACERA to become a peak body widely recognised in both Australia and China for promoting and facilitating commercial and technical cooperation between Australia and China within the oil and gas sector. Dr. Jian’s visionary contribution and relentless dedication was commended by the Committee, with special note made of his work in establishing the hugely success Australia-China LNG Forum, the only conference of its type dedicated to LNG engagements between the two nations.
In addition to the new Presidency, the forward committee structure for 2019 was announced at the AGM:
President: Tysun Chan, Meercat Vice President: Donald Xie, Chevron Vice President: Phoebe Wan, Chevron Secretary General: Xue Mei Yang, Curtin University Treasurer: Larry Xu, Paxon Group

“The ACERA has grown immensely over the past few years and we should be extremely proud of the Association’s achievements,” said Tysun. “A unique and powerful characteristic underpinning a much of our success is the diversity at play across multiple dimensions. We have members hailing from a broad mix of Chinese, Australian and International state owned and private enterprises, including core operators as well as a myriad of service companies covering everything from pioneering research to banking to engineering consulting. Add to that an open and welcoming culture that has brought together local Australians as well as Chinese currently living in or harking back to just about every province within the Middle Kingdom and you’ve got a powerful formula for driving new ideas and high-value collaboration.”
The ACERA extends its heartfelt thanks to all its individual members, corporate members and partners for a successful 2018 and looks forward to fueling further collaborations in 2019.
