Delegation of PNG Department of Petroleum and Energy undertake training in Australia

From 10th to 15th October, 2016, three officers from Department of Petroleum and Energy, Papua New Guinea, were invited to undertake an industry training organized by ACERA. The delegation is made up of Jimmy Haumu - the Director of Petroleum Division, Gregory Balavue - Assistant Director of Exploration Branch and Panda Ishmael – Principal Coordinator of Coordination Branch.

To understand and appreciate the modern-coast depositional environments, the delegation visited Port Campbell National Park via Great Ocean Road on 11th.

After a short visit to Fremantle’s historical site, Cottesloe Beach and King’s Park on 12th, the delegation visited the CNOOC Australia International Holding’s office in Perth. The managing director of CNOOC AIH, Mr Yongfeng Lv, together with all CNOOC employees expressed warm welcome to three officers. Mr Lv introduced CNOOC’s business activities in Australia and surrounding countries, including PNG, and looked forward to further enhance the cooperation between the two organisations.

On 13th, the delegation visited Department of Mines and Petroleum of Western Australia. The Acting Executive Director of DMP, Denis Wills and his team members introduced the overview of the WA oil and gas industry and explained regulations for oil and gas practice in Western Australia. In the afternoon, they visited Oilfield Technology and their lab facilities. The Oilfield introduced their core business to provide integrity solutions to reservoir management challenges in field development planning, improving well productivity, improved hydrocarbon recovery operations and reservoir characterization, and also showcased the technologies they used for such services.

Visiting DMP Western Australia

On 14th, the delegation took a geology field trip to Nambung National Park, on sequence stratigraphy and sea-level changes, and modern-day depositional environments.
